Conscious city
for the future

Auroville was established in 1968, near Pondicherry, as a living experiment for the world to learn from and pursue a content and conscious life. Its charter talks about realising human unity, unending education, selfless living, learning from the past and enable the advent of sustainable and equitable future for all. The township has approximately 2500 people from 50 countries.
